This is the first movement of a piece I began writing in graduate school for Pierrot ensemble. The piece tells the story of a young man who leaves home to go on an adventure.

The first movement is a whimsical song that explores the experiences of youthful innocence and excitement.

The second movement is a theme of cautiousness and tension as the protagonist finds himself alone in a forest, unsure of himself on the journey.

The third movement breaks the tension of the previous movement as the protagonist rests under the stars in preparation for the journey's finale.

The fourth movement begins with a driving force of determination as the protagonist proceeds up the mountain. The intensity builds as the journey becomes more difficult before eventually reaching a breaking point. Lastly, the protagonist finds the determination to carry on and finish the journey, concluding with a reflection on the journey as a whole.
